Mossbauer study on these nanosystems shows that the cation distribution not only depends on the particle size but also on the preparation route. Mossbauer results are also supported by magnetization data. Well defined sextets and appearance of hysteresis at room temperature indicate the existence of ferromagnetic couplings which makes nano-NZIFO ferrite suitable for magnetic storage data. “Spinal cord injury can lead to devastating and permanent loss of neurological function, affecting all levels below the site of trauma. Unfortunately, the injured adult mammalian
spinal cord displays little regenerative capacity and little functional recovery in large part due to a tissue environment that is nonpermissive for regenerative axon growth. Artificial tissue repair scaffolds may provide a physical guide to allow regenerative axon growth that bridges
the lesion cavity and restores functional neural find more connectivity. ARS-1620 clinical trial By integrating different strategies, including the use of various biomaterials and microstructures as well as incorporation of bioactive molecules and living cells, combined or synergistic effects for spinal cord repair through regenerative axon growth may be achieved. This article briefly reviews the development of bioengineered scaffolds for spinal cord repair, focusing on spinal cord injury and the subsequent cellular response, scaffold materials, fabrication techniques, and current therapeutic strategies. Key issues and challenges are also identified and discussed along with recommendations for future research.”
“We present observations of low frequency, (fundamentals <= 1 GHz) current-driven magnetization dynamics at 293 K in partially patterned Py (24 nm)/Cu(10)/Py(6), elliptical, nanopillars, with the top Py(6) magnetic layer and part of the Cu layer shaped into an similar to 70 X 140 nm(2) nanopillar and the rest left extended.
The magnetoresistance curves for applied current I approximate to 2 mA, and the spin-transfer-torque curves for applied magnetic field H approximate selleck kinase inhibitor to 0, both behave as expected for simple, uncoupled magnetic layers. We describe several behaviors similar to those previously seen and associated with excitation and dynamics of vortices: sharp, low frequency (f) peaks at H=0, with df/dI similar to 40 MHz/mA; hysteretic behavior with the direction of sweep of current I; disappearance of the peaks for parallel field larger than 10 mT and for perpendicular field larger than 400 mT; nonmonotonic power production as a function of I. Two new behaviors are the “”simultaneous”" presence of such peaks for both I>0 and I<0, and strong asymmetry of the I<0 peaks when H is reversed. (C) 2009 American Institute of Physics.
